Trainings: Towards an Efficient Judicial Protection against Discrimination of Marginalized Groups in BiH

Heinrich Böll Stiftung, Office in BiH, and Sarajevo Open Centre, with the support of Centre for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of RS (CEST RS), in the period from May 18 to May 19, 2015 in Istočno Sarajevo, have organized a training for 14 judges and prosecutors. Also, in the period from May 20 to May 21 2015, with the support of Centre for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of FBiH (CEST FBiH) in Sarajevo, a training for 28 judges and prosecutors on the same topic: Anti-discrimination Law, combating discrimination of minority groups, the experience of BiH and experiences from the region, was organized.

BiH Parliament: The Special Report on the State of the Rights of LGBT People in BiH

BiH Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees will begin the process of introducing the legislative amendments to the BiH Law on Prohibition of Discrimination, and that the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights in BiH should draw a special report on the protection of rights of LGBT people and deliver it to the competent bodies, including PSBiH.

20 years of Dayton – 20 years of women in BiH politics

2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement and various mainstream events will take place in order to commemorate the war, peace building, and progress that Bosnia and Herzegovina made in the post-war period, but Sarajevo Open Centre, with the support from Embassy of Switzerland, will present a different perspective – one focusing on the role of women in politics.

Initiative for EU monitoring is working on proposals for the reform of the Ombudsman Institution

These two-day consultations were aimed at informing the members of the Initiative on European law, EU integration, the mechanisms for the protection of human rights, independent human rights bodies, as well as the manner in which Croatia formed these bodies (good practices) in order for members to be devoted to drafting the Law on the Human Rights Ombudsman and to propose amendments to the Anti-discrimination Law in the coming period.
