Revolutionary play SEVEN in Sarajevo on 26 November 2015
Sarajevo Open Centre and Medica Zenica are announcing the scene reading of the revolutionary documentary play SEVEN in Sarajevo.
SEVEN is a revolutionary documentary play based on the interviews with seven women’s rights activists, from all around the world. Life stories of these women and their struggles represent an incredible source of inspiration. These women are: Ferida Azizi (Afganistan), Inez Mccormack (North Ireland), Marina Pisklakova-Parker (Russia), Annabella de Leon (Guatemala), Mukhtar Mai (Pakistan), Mu Sochua (Cambodia) and Hafsat Abiola (Nigeria).
Based on the interviews conducted in 2007, the play SEVEN was written by seven awarded screenplay authors: Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kriegel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Margraff, Anna Deveare-Smith i Susan Yankowitz.
The tour of the scene readings of the play SEVEN was initiated and produced by the awarded screenplay writer, actress and producer, Hedda Krausz Sjörgen, in Sweden in 2008.
The readings of the play SEVEN have been organised more then 150 times, performed in 32 countries of the world, translated in 26 world languages. More then 600 women and men, including ministers, members of the European Parliament, artists, as well as the Oscar-winning actress, Meryl Streep, have read the play SEVEN so far.
Every reading of the play SEVEN is performed by an unique ensemble made of significant persons from different professions. In the Parliament of Sweden the play was performed by the MPs (all men), and in the European Parliament SEVEN was performed by the representatives of seven different states.
The reading of the play SEVEN in Bosnia and Herzegovina was realised for the first time in 2013.This reading was organised by the Sarajevo Open Centre. The reading of the play SEVEN will take place on 26 November in the Chamber Theatre 55 Sarajevo at 3 P.M.
The realisation of this event is being supported by the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Swedish Government via the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Hedda Produktion AB.
