Last night in the Museum of Literature and Theatre, exhibition „STAND UP WOMAN! “– Europeanization & Emancipation: A Case of Nafija Sarajlić – Themes and Reminiscences was held with regard to the International Women’s Day.
Second panel discussion was called Protection of the right to self-determination – Legal recognition of gender identity. Panelists were from Croatia, Serbia, Denmark and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Naida Kučukalić was moderating the discussion. In the opening statements panelists explained key terms related to this topic and presented their experiences regarding gender identity and legal recognition, pinpointed main problems of transgender persons and gave their opinions and views how to solve the problems transgender people face.
Changes to criminal laws of FB&H and District of Brčko should be carried out just as ones in Republic of Srpska so they will be aligned with the rules set in Istanbul Convention. This will allow more adequate fight against gender based criminal acts.
Regulation of same-sex partnerships in conservative societies was the topic of first panel discussion and the panelists were Gordan Bosanac (Center for Peace Studies, Croatia), Predrag Raosavljević (Institution of Ombudsman B&H), Boris Kešić (Faculty of Law, University of Tuzla, B&H) and Craig Dwyer (YesEquality, Irleand). Emina Bošnjak from Sarajevo Open Centre was moderating the discussion.
Besides the adoption of advanced anti-discrimination legal framework, the vulnerable groups/minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still the target of discrimination, according to the latest Amnesty International’s annual report.

Beginning this week, on the 13th and 14th of February, training about the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and intersex (LGBTI) people was held for the representatives of Coordination Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Monitoring the Implementation of Gender Action Plan for the period of 2013-2017.
