Photo Contest – The Feeling of Pride

We would like to invite and encourage all LGBTIQ people to apply for a photo contest called The Feeling of Pride. The aim of this photo contest is to provide space for artistic expression of LGBTIQ people and to question the importance of pride.

If you are a person who likes photography, whether amateur or professional, or if you use your social media profiles to express your artistic spirit, this contest is for you.

Often in everyday life we can hear a famous sentence: what is it that LGBTIQ persons have to be proud of? Pride as such comes from everyday repression and non-acceptance. Pride that we live despite omnipresent homophobia. Pride for courage. Pride for diversity. Pride for all our queer identities. Pride for resistance. These may be some of the ideas for your photos. We want to challenge you to show us through the photo contest what is pride for you.

The works will be exhibited at a closed meeting in a safe area for all LGBTIQ persons and friends, as part of the event organized by the Sarajevo Open Centre on 20 July 2019.

You don’t have to be an outed person, because this contest offers the opportunity and space for safe sharing of your art with the LGBTIQ community and friends.

Contest is open until 30 June 2019 and you can send up to 5 photos at mail [email protected], with the subject For photo contest and with personal data (name, city, year).

All LGBTIQ persons from Bosnia and Herzegovina have the right to participate in the competition. Send your photos in digital form and please note that we also accept photos taken by a mobile phone.

After the completion of the competition, you will be notified of the results, and the best three authors will be rewarded with symbolic prizes.
