The web platform lgbt-prava.ba is changing its name to lgbt.ba after more than a year and is thus becoming the foremost BiH LGBT info portal, a virtual space for the public and the LGBT community.
We are re-introducing the portal with a completely new design, a familiar domain and content of even higher quality, in order to encourage the exchange of information and improve communication with the public. We hope that our renewed enthusiasm will contribute to professional and ethical, as well as more frequent reports on LGBT persons.
Redesign and the improvement of the portal have been financed by the European Union through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) for 2013, as a part of the project “Strengthening the rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexual and trans persons in BiH in accordance to the EU standards”.
The new portal becomes operational today, Monday, 12th of May, ahead of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on 17th of May. We hope to continue informing the public about the lives of LGBT persons in BiH through interviews, articles and reports, as well as other journalistic and multi-media contents in the future. We will also focus on reporting about the LGBT culture, public policy and rights as well as topics which challenge heteronormativity of our society.
The portal is staffed by volunteer journalists who are dedicated to following and participating in social, political, NGO, cultural and other LGBT events from BiH as well as the region. LGBT.ba will also be a place where people will be able to get information about cultural events which focus on LGBT culture, in BiH and the region.
