Info session – Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on the state of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina “

Yesterday, on January 24, info session was organized by the Sarajevo Open Centre entitled “Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on the state of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

At this info session we presented the UPR cycle and its importance for the enhancement of human rights, future plans and activities that will be conducted by BiH institutions and civil society organizations as part of this cycle.

Among the speakers was HE. Dr. Reinout Vos, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Ivan Lupis, political adviser to the United Nations in BiH, Amela Hasić, Head of Section for Preparing Reports of the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, and Rasim Ibrahimagić, Program Coordinator at the Sarajevo Open Centre, emphasizing the importance of the UPR cycle and the shadow report that will be submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the promotion of the human rights party through the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) .

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on the state of human rights is a unique mechanism of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council focused on the enhancement of human rights in all UN member states by gathering relevant information from member states, information which gathers the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as information from other relevant stakeholders such as civil society organizations.

 

The info session has been organized by Sarajevo Open Centre in scope of a project financed by the Government of Kingdom of the Netherlands.
