Statement of the NGO organizations and individuals on the decision of HJPC
The decision of the HJPC prohibiting the wearing of religious symbols is not in accordance with the Constitution of BiH.
In the past few days the information that the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH decided to ban wearing of religious symbols to the employees provoked negative reactions.
This decision in its core contains clear elements of indirect discrimination. It affects mainly and perhaps exclusively-Muslim women who wear the hijab / scarf, because this is a religious symbol clearly and directly visible, unlike other religious symbols.
