PRESENTING THE FIRST TRANSGENDER STUDY in BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA – “Life beyond given norms: Being transgender in Bosnia and Herzegovina”
Sarajevo Open Centre is pleased to invite you to the presentation of the first comprehensive transgender study in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be held on 7th of December 2015 from 12h – 15h in the Mediacentar (Kolodvorska 3) in Sarajevo. This study presentation with discussion is part of Sarajevo Open Centre’s program marking 16 days of activism and Human Rights Day.
After intensive work with transgender community in BiH and after the Regional Transgender Conference that was held in June 2015 in Sarajevo it was necessary to do a proper research on transgender issues, needs and problems which affect everyday lives of transgender and transexual people in BiH.
Transgender study, consolidates the concepts and phenomena, but also the legal framework in which we live, as well as research conducted among the transgender community in BiH, with the aim of better and more systematic advocacy approach and regulation of status of transgender people in BiH including: access to medical services, regulation of their legal status, recognition of the right to self-determination, but also employment issues and rate of violence among the transgender community in BiH.
Panellists include authors of this publication: Slobodanka Dekic, Jasmina Causevic, Damir Banovic, as well as Vladana Vasic on behalf of Sarajevo Open Centre.
