One More Success: Every Cantonal Ministry of Internal Affairs Educated their police officers about Hate Crime

During 2016, Sarajevo Open Centre was advocating with every Cantonal Ministry of Internal Affairs in Federation of BiH to include hate crime modules into their permanent and obligatory trainings in 2017. Police officers in every single Ministry of Internal Affairs are obligated to participate in these trainings. When it comes to educating police officers, in last few years Sarajevo Open Centre has worked on the topic of hate crime in many different ways and with high intensity.

A successful completion of the Train the Trainer program for police officers of Cantonal MoI’s and the Police Academy representatives of the Federation of BiH

This year, a group of police officers and representatives of FBiH Police Academy has passed the Train the Trainer program, with the objective to enable their holding of permanent trainings of hate crime modules for their colleagues in Cantonal MoIs.

After the first training that took place from 8th – 9th September 2016 in a series of three two-day Train the trainer trainings, a second two-day training was held from 29th – 30th September 2016. This year’s participants of the Train the Trainer program were a group of Police Officers of all cantonal MUPs (cantonal ministries of internal affairs). Throughout their first training, police officers learned how to transfer their specialist knowledge and skills to other colleagues, to overcome training and develop presentation skills.
