Street action May 17, 9am: THE TIME HAS COME FOR LGBTI EQUALITY!
Tuesday, May 17 we will mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT). The same day the House of Representatives of the FBIH Parliament will meet. Guest speakers at the Parliament will be Ivan Jakovičić, member of European Parliament, and Lars – Gunnar Wigemark, EU Ambassador in BiH.
In order to raise the awareness of MPs for the need of the advancement of LGBTI rights, we will organize this symbolic street action. From 9 to 10am we will have a peaceful standing and we will give out brochures to the MPs arriving to the parliamentary session.
We will present them the following demands:
- Parliamentarians should provide honest and clear support to LGBTI people. Prejudges, discrimination and violence can´t be tolerated.
- The Federation of BiH should adopt a same sex partnership law, recognizing the existence of same sex couples and rights and duties from these partnerships.
- The Federation of BiH should adopt a gender identity law, regulating legal gender recognition on a urgent, transparent and accessible way, in order to allow a life with dignity for transgender and transexual people.
- The Federation of BiH should produce, adopt and implement a multi-annual Action Plan for LGBTI equality, with the aim to fight prejudges, discriminations and violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics.
