Job description

The Sarajevo Open Centre is looking for a Program Coordinator who will independently implement programs and projects in the field of human rights within the Sarajevo Open Centre’s program team, with an emphasis on the rights of LGBTI people.

The Program Coordinator will participate in the implementation of existing, but also in the development of new programs and projects.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Planning, implementation, records and evaluation of project/program activities.
  • Monitoring the situation in the field of human rights in compliance with project/program obligations, conducting research, analysing collected data, preparing reports, policy papers, and proposals, and responding to human rights violations of LGBTI people through various protection mechanisms in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring the political situation in BiH, as well as the work of competent institutions and other relevant civil society organizations; organizing and holding advocacy meetings with identified relevant actors to improve the human rights situation of LGBTI people; and submitting proposals and amendments to developed policies, laws, documents and reports to improve the human rights of LGBTI people.
  • Reporting to domestic and foreign organizations, networks, and initiatives in the field of LGBTI human rights in BiH, as well as holding consultations with other civil society organizations in the field of LGBTI human rights for the purpose of reporting and advocacy to domestic and foreign institutions.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisors as required

 

A candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • University Degree in Social Sciences (or senior student status), preferably the Faculty of Law;
  • Two years of work experience in the same or similar jobs;
  • Basic understanding of national and international legal mechanisms in the field of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex rights;
  • Organizational skills and the ability to interact and collaborate with a variety of target groups;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of English.

Additional information

Engagement: full-time, 40-hour workweek, 12-month initial employment contract (with a 6-month probationary period) with the possibility of extension.

Date of commencement: 1 June 2021

Location: Sarajevo

Net salary including transportation and meal allowance: approx. BAM 1,400
