For the second year in a row, Bosnia and Herzegovina will host a conference focusing on the situation of LGBT human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina and countries in the region.
The conference is organized by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in partnership with its counterpart organizations Sarajevo Open Centre and CURE Foundation, as a part of an EU-funded project Coming Out! Advocating Promotion and Protection of LGBT Rights.
We are cordially inviting you to attend the second regional conference: LGBT Rights in the Western Balkans: Is a new approach possible?, which is going to take place in Sarajevo on 25 and 26 September 2014.
The conference will include discussions on different topics such as: Is there hope for the improvement of LGBT rights in the Western Balkans? Can we shift from legal protection to social acceptance? What challenges does the future hold? What about hate crimes? What is the situation in education sector? Can the media affect social change in the age of tabloidization and lead to greater tolerance? These are just a few questions to be discussed during the conference.
The conference will be opened by the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH/EUSR Ambassador Peter Sørensen. The conference is sponsored by the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A detailed program of the conference will be available soon. Food and possible transport and accommodation costs will be covered for the participants coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
