Banja Luka: Regional conference The effect of EU integration process on human rights of LGBT people
On the 4th and 5th of December of 2014 in Banja Luka a Regional Conference The Effect of EU integration process on Human Rights of LGBT people will be held.
The focus of the Conference will be on the effect the EU integration process has on human rights of LGBT people, as well as the work of institutions, the ombudspersons, police, prosecutors and judiciary in combating violations of human rights of LGBT people. Conference is organized by Sarajevo Open Centre and Foundation Mediacentre Sarajevo within the EU financed project Enhancing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans rights in BiH in the line with EU standards with support of Foundation Astraea.
This Conference aims to support the activists of Banja Luka Queer Association after the constant violence and threats they were exposed to because of their work. The Conference also aims to engage governmental institutions of Republika Srpska into an open dialogue on the subject of violations of human rights of LGBT persons.
The Conference will be opened by Terry Reintke, member of the European Parliament, and it will be attended by representatives of the governmental institutions for protection of human rights, as well as the representatives of the civil society organisations from Westren Balkan region and the representatives of the European Union.
