Sarajevo Open Centre and Open Society Fund BiH to hold a Regional Conference “Advancing Human Rights of LGBT persons in the Western Balkans,” Sarajevo 16/10/2013
Every 10th of December is marked as International Human Rights Day to celebrate the UN’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. This is the first time human rights were globally articulated.
This year, on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, Sarajevo Open Centre and Open Society Fund BiH are co-organizing a regional conference on the topic “Advancing Human Rights of LGBT persons in Western Balkans.” It will be held in Sarajevo on December the 16th.
In this regional conference, members of the Ombudsperson offices from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and BiH, as well as representatives of civil society from the aforementioned countries will take part in the discussion on national mechanisms for the protection of human rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans persons, and they will share best practices.
With this Regional Conference we aim to achieve a better visibility of LGBT persons and the problems they are facing in their everyday lives when it comes to violations of their human rights.
We will issue the final programme of the regional conference “Advancing Human Rights of LGBT persons in Western Balkans” in November.
