CAMPAIGN: Recognize Sexual Harassment!
Women, from the earliest age, are often victims of sexual harassment. It happens at school, on the street, at work, in the public city transport, at home, during concerts, in the theatre.
Therefore, when someone on the street tells us “You’re so hot”, that is not a compliment, that evokes frear, humiliation and discomfort in women. When someone derives conclusions based on our appearances, we are feared of the actions that may follow.
When in public city transport our bodies are touched, we feel humiliated and upset.
These are some of the many forms of sexual harassment. From 29 November to 13 December 2017, Sarajevo Open Centre sets in public space the campaign of the symbolic title: Recognize Sexual Harassment. The campaign will be visible on several locations in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Mostar and Banja Luka. With this campaign we want to send a message to the perpetrators of these acts which acts are sexual harassment, and that it is legally prohibited. We also want to point that it creates a sense of fear, humiliation and discomfort in women.
The billboard campaign is realized with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
