BH Council of Ministers will mark IDAHOT and Coming Out Day from 2017 on
Council of Ministers of BiH has adopted its Important dates in the field of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina marking programme. Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH was appointed to realise this Programme in the appropriate way and in cooperation with other relevant institutions. You can finf this Programme in BCS in the following link.
Sarajevo Open Centre has noticed that no LGBT human rights related dates were included in this Programme. In order to amend it, Sarajevo Open Centre had suggested introducing International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia and Coming Out Day into this Programme. This
The first such initiative in March of 2014 was unsuccessful, however when we file our suggestion to the Council of Ministers of BiH in February of 2016., we received the response from the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH that our suggestion is received and justified and that it will be taken into consideration. This suggestion will be considered in the end of 2016 when the new Important dates in the field of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina marking programme for 2017 will be made. The Programme for 2016 was already adopted in the beginning of 2016.
Inclusion of these two dates, which mark the most significant successes in the field of LGBT human rights, into this Programme, would send a strong message of dedication in the combat against discrimination, marginalisation and human rights violations on any ground. We believe that these two days will be included in the Important dates in the field of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina marking programme for 2017.
