Opening of the exhibition “Poetry and Museum of Razija Handžić: memory confiscation and systematic neglect of women’s contribution to culture, science and institutions”
On one of the exhibition billboards one can also see a text from Oslobođenje, from 26 December 1965 that is titled “We have the Museum of Literature”. And we’ve had it only for four years, and today we marked 55 years of its existence. From 67 literature and theater collections with over 20.000 showpieces that mainly relate to the creation and life of writers/literates, only two collections relate to women’s literate creativity, and one of them is the collection of showpieces about Razija Handžić – poet and publicist, editor of the first and second number of AFŽ magazine for Bosnia and Herzegovina, founder and first director of the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts BiH.
The contribution of this exhibition reflects in affirmation of BH cultural creativity of women. The exhibition is also a way of pointing at systematic neglect of women and their contribution to BH society and cultural and scientific institutions.
The exhibition is also a way to contribute to the world campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence.
The full text about the exhibition is available in the B/C/S language version.
