Educating towards more efficient implementation of the Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Sarajevo Open Centre in cooperation with the Gender Centre of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will organize a two day training 19-20 May, for coordinating committees of Federation of BiH to monitor the implementation of the Gender Action Plan (GAP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2013-2017.
In March 2016, the Federal Government of BiH has adopted the Integrated Operational Plan for ministries and institutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2016 with the aim of implementation of the Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2013 – 2017, which, among other things, includes concrete measures for promotion and protection of the rights of LGBTI people. After this Operational plan has been adopted, Sarajevo Open Centre in cooperation with the Gender Centre FBiH, realized the need for education of representatives of Coordination Committee in Federation BiH on rights of LGBTI people as well as a tool for better understanding of the problems that lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people face in BiH.
We believe that this form of education can help and contribute to more efficient implementation of GAP, especially when it comes to measures to promote and protect the rights of LGBTI people.
We hope that after this training, representatives of institutions will recognize the importance of advocating for the rights of LGBTI people, as well as the fight for equal life opportunities for all citizens in BiH.
The training programme is available here.
GAP BiH contains strategic objectives, programs and measures to achieve gender equality in all spheres of social life and work, in public and private spheres. It provides guidelines for the preparation of annual operational plans at the entity, cantonal and local level.
