dayagainsthomophobia.org – Feminism matters because…
“Feminism matters because my gender still determines the size of my paycheck and because I cannot decide about my own body and when (or whether) to have children freely, safely and legally.
Feminism matters because my gender identity and my sexual orientation are still the grounds upon which I’m being discriminated against, fired or bullied at school.
Feminism matters because until we achieve equality, regardless of our gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other category, societies will not develop to their fullest extent. Therefore for me the decision of becoming a human rights activist came from the fact that I cannot simply ignore inequality when I see it. I believe that discrimination against one group is the responsibility of all of us, and therefore I make of this struggle my way of living.”
