Protection and promotion of LGBT rights\u201c<br \/> <\/strong>Heinrich B\u00f6ll Foundation, BH Office, in partnership with Sarajevo Open Centre and CURE Foundation invites you to the round table<\/p> <p><em><strong>Violence and Discrimination Against LGBT Persons &#8211; Regional and BH Experience<br \/> <\/strong><\/em><\/p> <p><strong>Venue: <\/strong>Hotel Bosna, Kralja Petra I Kara\u0111or\u0111evi\u0107a br. 97, Banja Luka<br \/> <strong>Date: <\/strong>December 4, 2013<\/p> <p>When it comes to the rights of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) persons, BH institutions are not sensitized enough to notice or tackle the issues and problems LGBT persons face everyday, and assume that the prohibition of discrimination, regulated by the Law on Anti-Discrimination in BiH, is sufficient to ensure protection and equality for LGBT persons. Although hate crime exists in the criminal laws of Brcko District and Republika Srpska, and not in Federation of BiH, there are no processed hate crime cases on the grounds of sexual orientation and\/or gender identity.<\/p> <p>The goal of this round table is to open up public space and dialogue on the topic of LGBT human rights. In this way, we want to sensitize the general public about the necessity to respect the human rights of LGBT persons and their institutional protection.<\/p> <p>Participants of this round table will have the chance to hear about practices in Serbia, Croatia, and BiH on the topic of fight against homophobia. The speakers will share some of the institutional practices and policies of the countries they come from, as well as their experience and suggestions.<\/p> <p>The round table is intended for decision makers from health, justice, education, interior sectors, as well for representatives of the embassies and civil society organisations.
