The violence they suffer is unnoticed, and depression, isolation, low self-esteem are problems they face everyday. The research also showed that the number of high school students who are out is steadily rising. Because of the fear of rejection and judgement, LGBT students rarely approach their professors or other professional staff, and these persons need additional education to provide adequate psychosocial support to their LGBT students.

The goal of this training is to support inclusive work with LGBT high school students through counseling pedagogical, educational, and managerial staff in high schools in BiH.

The participants of this training will have the opportunity to learn more about the basic terminology in connection to LGBT activism and human rights of LGBT persons, and about specific problems and needs of LGBT high school students, accompanied by regional experience from Croatia.

During the second day, the participants will work on raising the awareness about prejudice and the problems directly caused by them, and how that can affect the work with young LGBT students by sharing experience, and through interactive exercises.

The cost of accommodation, transport and refreshments are covered, and the program of the training is available here.

How to apply:

Submit the filled application form to emina@soc.ba latest by November 25, 2013.
