The number of elected women in the Parliaments and Assemblies

The number of elected women in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska and in the Assemblies of cantons.

From 17 candidates for the Presidency of BiH there was only one woman candidate and she was not elected.

There were 747 candidates for the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. 306 of them were women (40.96%). 13 of these women were on the top of the list. According to the official and final results, there are 10 women elected (23.81%) in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. Seven of these women are from Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and three of them are from Republika Srpska. According to the proportion of women elected, the most of them are elected  from the list of Demokratska Fronta party (3 women), and from coalition of HDZ BiH, HSS, HKDU BiH, HSP dr. Ante Starčević i HSP Herceg-Bosne (2 women). SDA is a political party that has won the biggest number of parliamentary seats, but only one seat belongs to woman. SBB, SDP, BPS, A-SDA, PDP-NDP i DNS-NS-SRS have no women representatives. The only mandate of HDZ 1990 belongs to woman.

Results for Election Unit 1 (FBiH ) from which only one woman was elected, shows that even those women who were high on the lists of candidates have received less votes. A positive example comes from the Demokratska Fronta party. In the Election Unit 3 there were two women elected out of three mandates from Demokratska Fronta. In the Election Unit 4 from Demokratska Fronta is elected woman who was the holder of the list. In this Election Unit women candidates from SDP have achieved good results. Women candidates from SDP that are ranked as 8th and 11th on the list have achieved results as the second and the fourth choice. But they are not elected in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.  The opposite situation is with the SDA candidate from the Election Unit 5. In this unit second candidate from the list have achieved bad result- 7th choice.

Results from Republika Srpska are not much different. Three elected women come from two political parties – SDS and SNSD.  In Election Unit 1, one woman from SNSD is elected. Positive example comes from Election Unit 2 where women candidate who were 4th on the list and 5th by choice is elected in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH through the compensatory mandates. From the Election Unit 3 candidate from SDS who was 2nd on the list is elected directly in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

There were 1.337 candidates for the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  583 of them were women. 30 of these women were on top of the list. According to the official and final results there are 21 women elected in the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina  (21,43%).  According to the proportion of women elected, most of them are elected from lists of Laburisti BiH (100%), from Stranka za BiH (33,33%),  from Demokratska Fronta  (28,57%), from SBB and BPS (25,00%). The most of women who are elected in the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are from SDA party (6 women), from SBB and DF there are 4 women per party, from coalition HDZ BiH, HSS, HKDU BiH, HSP dr. Ante Starčević i HSP Herceg-Bosne there are 3 women, SDP, BPS, Stranka za BiH andi Laburisti BiH will have one women representative in Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. HDZ 1990, A-SDA and Naša Stranka will not have women representative in the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There are 12 women (14,45%) elected in the National Assembly of theRepublika Srpska. Five of them are elected directly, and seven of them are elected through the compensatory mandates. According to the proportion of women elected, the most of them are from coalition DNS-NS-SRS (25,00%). The most of women elected in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska are from SNSD party (6 women), from coalition DNS-NS-SRS there are 2 women representatives, from coalition Domovina, Narodni demokratski pokret and Socijalistička partija there is one representative  per party. PDP party will not have women representative in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska.

In the Parliaments of cantons, the smallest number elected women is in the Parliament of Canton Livno. Only one from 25 representatives is women. In the Assembly of the Una-Sana Canton from 30 representatives there are only 2 women.  In the Assembly of Podrinje Canton there are only 4 women from 25 representatives. In the Assembly of the Central Bosnia Canton from 30 representatives there are 5 women.

The biggest number of women elected is in Assembly of West Herzegovina Canton. In this canton, seven of 23 representatives are women. In the Assembly of The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton 8 of 30 representatives are women. In the Assembly of Posavina Canton five of 21 representatives are women. In the Assembly of Tuzla Canton 8 of 35 representatives are women.  In the Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton seven of 35 representatives are women.  In the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo seven of 30 representatives are women.

The most women were elected from Demokratska Fronta-Željko Komšić at all state levels. 17 from 46 representatives from this party  are women (36.95%). There are 17 women elected from 68 representatives (25%) from coalition HDZ BiH, HSS, HKDU BiH, HSP Herceg Bosne. From SDA party there are 17 women of 110 representatives (15.45%). From HDZ 1990 there are 7 women of 25 representatives (28%). There are 13 women elected of 56 representatives from SBB party (23.21%). There are 8 women of 38 representatives from SNSD party (21.05%). SDP party has the lowest share of elected women. Only 4 of 43 representatives are women.
