Representatives of the civil society organizations, political parties and Representatives of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH attended the street action EQUALITY NOW! which was held today. This action is organized in order to draw attention on the Law on the Changes and Amendments to the Law on the Council of Ministers BiH and the Law on Changes and Amendments of the Electoral Law of BiH

On today’s session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH very important law changes and amendments will be discussed. Two of these three laws were initiated by Sarajevo Open Centre.

These laws are:

• The Law on the Changes and Amendments to the Law on the Council of Ministers BiH which aims to introduce a gender quote of 40% into the law.
• The Law on Changes and Amendments of the Electoral Law of BiH (proposed by the Gender Equality Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina) which predicts that there needs to be an equal number of male and female candidates listed interchangeably.
• The Law on Changes and Amendments of the Electoral Law of BiH (proposed by the inter-ministerial working group for the revision of the electoral legislation of BiH) which clearly undermines the existing gender quota that envisioned participation of both genders of minimum 40%, with mandatory positioning of female candidates in the first three, five and eight places.
