Regional Conference on Hate Crime in BiH – Neccessary Amendments to the FBiH Criminal Code

konferencija hc 2015Sarajevo Open Centre cordially invites you to the Regional Conference that will take place on the 30th of November 2015 in Sarajevo, as a part of our programme for 16 days of Activism and The International Human Rights Day.

The conference Hate crimes – How to Amend the FBiH Criminal Code? is a half-day conference on the topics of international obligations of BiH regarding the regulation of hate crimes, experiences of the states from the region (Croatia and Serbia) with the appropriate regulation of hate crimes in their criminal codes, and hate crimes in BiH – their regulation and appliance. The participants of the panels are regional and local experts in the field of criminal law, the representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OIDHR) from Warsaw; the representatives of the Office for Human Rights and the Rights of National Minorities of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the representatives of the religious communities and the civil sector from Serbia and BiH.

The Conference is of immense importance in our efforts to transfer the message of the necessary regulation, fighting and preventing hate crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the Federation of BiH that in the previous five years, hasn’t yet amended its Criminal Code in the way that it was done in the Republika Srpska and Brčko District. We also hope that the discussion will be opened and that the consequences of the non-regulation of hate crimes for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian society will become visible.

Note: The costs of food and refreshments are covered for the participants that are coming to the Conference. However, we are not able to cover the costs of accommodation and transport. The translation to English and B/C/S language is provided. We kindly ask you to confirm your attendance to the conference to Sarajevo Open Centre by 25 of November 2015, via e-mail: [email protected] or fax number: 033 551 002.
