This project is suppported by the Matra programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kindom of Netherlands. The project Advocating for LGBT rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina has two main objectives: to empower and strengthen the LGBT community by implementing supportive community-based activities, related to their rights, needs and capacities as well as to increase awareness among state institutions/officials about the necessity to fully implement international, European and national human rights standards towards LGBT rights.

Out law
In cooperation with the US Embassy in B&H

Project period: March 2012 – February 2013
The goal of this project is production of a manual on LGBT human rights, flyers and posters to combat the violence on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, and to empower the (potential) victims of discrimination and/or violence to report it to the authorities. Through these publications, we expect to transfer the knowledge on LGBT human rights, implications of violence and the importance of the reporting the violence committed against LGBT persons. As a part of this project, 5 flyers and 2 posters containing information on whom and how to report the discrimination and/or violence, how the police should treat LGBT persons when they have been subjected to discrimination and/or violence, as well as a flyer about coming out will be produced.

Step Up!

In cooperation with ILGA-Europe

Project period: 2010 – 2012

Step Up! is building on the foundation and knowledge learned of the ILGA-Europe project called ‘Take Action! United against LGBT discrimination in Eastern Europe’ that was carried out between 2006 and 2009. ILGA-Europe initiated the project due to a need of stronger LGBT organisations in the Western Balkans. A stronger LGBT movement on a national level is vital to fight the increasing discrimination, hate speech and hate crimes, and violation of the right to freedom of assembly towards LGBT people. As a part of this project, we have published a Report on LGBT human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2011 – Rozi izvještaj.

Strengthening and building-up LGBT activism structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In cooperation with Civil Rights Defenders

Project period: 2012 – 2013

The long-term objective of this project is to decrease the prejudices in the B&H society about the LGBT community through various educational, scientific and cultural events and programs and to strengthen the LGBT activists and LGBT community itself.

This project will result with advocacy action in the Parliament assembly of Council of Europe, as well as advocacy action to the B&H institutions in charge of implementing these recommendations, as our first step in approaching B&H institutions regarding discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.
