Activists and persons from public and political life for the first time together in the campaign against homophobia and transphobia

On the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT), Sarajevo Open Centre launched a media campaign with the focus on the importance and need for the institutions, our allies, supporters and friends to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex persons.

Support and common struggle are necessary for equality and better life of all of us.

LGBTI persons are a part of this society, they go to school, work or search for jobs just like other people, but, besides these issues that the whole society faces, they also face additional discrimination and violence just because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or sex characteristics.

By including public persons in this year’s campaign, we want to send a message to LGBTI persons that they have support, that there are people who will be there for them and react to injustice, discrimination and violence. That they are not alone. Public and open support of the members of BH society means a lot to LGBTI persons, and public persons can significantly help in ending prejudice, homophobia and transphobia that still exist in our society.

Our aim is to sensitize society (our friends, families, colleagues…) on people who care about breaking the chain of violence, who want to stop the hate speech in schools. People who will condemn human rights violations, give support and with us, LGBTI persons, participate in the struggle against all kinds of violence, discrimination, homophobia and transphobia.

In the campaign, for the first time, together in the video there are 11 persons from the public and political life, as well as LGBTI persons from Bosnia and Herzegovina. These people have given their support: Ferida Duraković, Ermin Bravo, Frenkie, Kontra, Borka Rudić, Lejla Turčilo, Damir Imamović, Esad Bajtal, Vedrana Božinović, Damir Arnaut and Lamija Begagić.

There is need for strengthening alliances in order to fight together against the omnipresent violence and inequality. Together we can do so much more!

On this occasion, we invite all BiH citizens to join us! Let’s support each other!

Let’s unite in common efforts and struggles for better lives of all members of this society.

Let’s unite in the struggle for the human rights of LGBTI persons!

We invite you to share this video and radio jingle and support our struggle.

Subtitle in English are available.

Radio jingle is available only on B/C/S language.
